306. The Fairy Queen
|
A Midsummer-Night's Dream
Act 2 Scene 3
Titania: Her fairies attending
her.
Come now, a rounded and a fairy
song:
Then, for the third part of a minute,
hence -
Some to kill cankers in the musk-rose buds,
Some war with rere mice for their leathern wings,
To make my small elves coats, and some keep back
The clamerous owl that nightly hoots and wonders
At our quaint spirits. Sing me now asleep;
Then to your offices, and let me rest.

|
| 302. Sweet lullaby
|
|
Fairies sing
You spotted snakes, with double
tongue,
Thorny hedgehogs, be not seen;
Newts and blind-worms do no wrong,
Come not near our Fairy Queen.
Philomele, with melody,
Sing in our sweet lullaby,
Lulla, lulla, lullaby,
Lulla, lulla, lullaby.
Never harm,
Nor spell, nor charm,
Come our lovely lady nigh.
So good night, with lullaby.
...... Titania sleeps .....

301. There sleeps Titania
|
Act 2 Scene 2
Oberon:

With sweet musk-roses, and with eglantine:
There sleeps Titania sometime of the night,
Lulled in these flowers with dances and delight.
And there the snake throws her enamelled skin,
Weed wide enough to wrap a fairy in ...

awakened |

304. Then, what it was that next came in her eye |
Oberon
I wonder if Titania be awakened,
Then, what it was that next came in her eye,
Which she must dote on in extremity

303. Will we sing and bless
this place
|
Act 5 Scene 1
Oberon
Every elf and fairy sprite
Hop as light as bird from briar;
And this ditty after me
Sing, and dance it trippingly.
Titania
First rehearse your song by rote,
To each word a warbling note;
Hand in hand, with fairy grace,
Will we sing and bless this place.
The Song Fairies
Now, until the break of day,
Through this house each fair stray.
To the best bride-bed will we:
Which by us shall blessed be:
